Affordable and Reliable
I was wanting to get into some video making with my camera, and all I had for stabilizing was a pretty basic counterweight stabilizer. It did work somewhat, but I wanted something easier to use and something that could hold accessories. That's when I invested in the Neewer Video Cage.It went together in no time. The only assembly required is screwing the top handle and the camera mount onto the frame. The build is sturdy, yet is lightweight, where as my counter balance stabalizer was heavier and wore my arm out a lot. Didn't help the counterweight one was one handled either. The part that the camera attaches too also feels strong, it never feels like my camera might slip off the rig. It also looks really good too. People see it and tell me it looks really professional. The top also has a lot of holes in it, so you can add all kinds of lights, mics, flashes, etc to it. Just note it only has the holes, so you will need to get adapters for anything that doesn't have the 1/4 screw on it. The only 1/4 screw on the set is the one for the camera itself, which has an easy to turn base so you can attach any camera easily. My camera is the basic size for most DSLRs, and the rig gives me plenty of room to play with the camera itself. I can reach my hand around the side of it, turn it on, change shutter speed and aperture, view pics, etc.It also does a decent to amazing job at stabilizing video, depending on how you use it. This isn't some top dollar rig that is going to give you amazingly stable footage, especially if you are running around trying to do an action sequence. This is much more designed around slow movement. If you are standing still, or sitting down, the stability is outstanding. You can pan it around, lift it up and down, side to side, all with very little, if any, shakiness. When it comes to walking and filming, you will notice movement in the camera. It will be noticeably different from just holding a camera in your hand and shooting however. With a little practice, you can reduce the movement even further. The top handle, I use that mainly for carrying it around. The side handles do the most for me when it comes to shooting and filming.Overall, if you are wanting a rig that won't break the bank and give results, this is a great choice.

Wet or Dry, It's a real work horse
It's been dunked in salt & fresh water, had enough attachments added to sink a ship and handled it all like that whats its designed for! I have been a professional underwater photographer/videographer for over 40 years and been looking for a system like this for a long time.Strong, light weight adaptable and won't cost a fortune. This system has it all. It is so good that I also bought it's smaller brother too, combined for less then than a many other systems that don't work as well. It is easy to adjust in so many ways, add all the gadgets you could dream of and still have room for more. Alone it is just a lightweight monster that screams add stuff to me and I can handle it and it does as you can see! I have used it in crashing surf, knocked around waves in sand and left in pools for hours and it has yet to show the abuse I have given it. It obviously can handle what I give it, then it can handle anybody. I really like the bars out front that prevent me from crashing my lens into things as I am filming. the top grab handle is great for lifting it in and out of the water or hand it to an assistant. Enough threaded 1/4-20 holes to make Swiss cheese look skimpy and simple easy adjustment levers for moving the rails. My only problem is people see it and ask all sorts of questions while I am trying to shoot, you won't be able to look like an amateur sneaking into places that don't want professionals sneaking in using this!

Excellent Cage But A Bad Design Feature? Excellent Customer Service.
Update 4/26/23: I was contacted by Pam on behalf of Neewer. She offered me a partial rebate and an explanation for why the knobs didn’t work. She thought I put the rod unit on upside down. I remember trying the rod holding unit both ways, but I am not a mechanical engineer so who knows? I bought a more expensive Neewer cage after trying two other brands that were a lot more expensive. I like the newer cage I now have. Because of the great customer service I have upped the rating of Neewer by one star. This is a wonderful cage. Strong, lightweight, versatile, well constructed. But I sent it back. Why? The knobs that tighten the sliding rods cannot be tightened because they hit the lower part of the cage structure. Thus, a key part of the cage cannot be used. I was terribly disappointed. But, back to Amazon it went and I bought a more expensive Camvate which hurt, because the Neewer was on sale at a great price. That doesn’t happen to me often. I could have kept the Neewer and just not used the rods, but it seemed to me I would be paying for something I didn’t get. At this point I’m thinking I should have kept the Neewer as the Camvate has a few problems with the mounting screws for the camera, costing me more money, but otherwise it is OK. Shopping is hard. No complaints!
Excellent construction at a much cheaper price point than the leading competition. Quality is good, and it looks like it will last. Very sturdy and stable platform for my DSLR camera, with plenty of attachment points for accessories. All holes appear to be threaded for 1/4-20 screws. I know some competitor models have some unthreaded holes as well. The plastic side handles even feel sturdy, and tighten down nicely. I will likely coat them with a light rubber spray to add some tackiness and extra grippiness to them, but they are also pretty good right out of the box.I do like the feel of the platform... it seems much easier to hold a stable handheld camera position with the side handles. Much steadier than using the camera's awkward grips, at least when video work is being done. Thanks to strategic cut-outs in the frame, it's still easy to see the LCD displays on the camera, and to remove and replace the battery on the underside, without removing everything from the mount. All-in-all, a well-designed and executed camera cage.
